Our opinion

Zengo Logo
Zengo
Zengo takes a novel and exciting approach with its “Keyless Wallet.” The wallet focuses entirely on beginner-friendliness and usability. Common pain points like recovery phrases (seed phrases), backups, and verification processes are avoided through a hybrid solution: instead of a private key, two so-called “secret shares” are created. One remains on Zengo’s servers, and the other is stored on the user’s mobile device. Zengo cannot access these stored values but can still restore a backup if lost. Verification is done via biometric facial recognition. This solution represents a major leap forward in usability, making Zengo especially recommended for beginners. However, crypto purists who want full control over their private keys should opt for a different wallet. Otherwise, we recommend Zengo and align with the positive user reviews.

Ledger Stax Logo
Ledger Stax
As Ledger’s new flagship model, the Ledger Stax is the most modern and technically advanced wallet in their product lineup. The company invested heavily in design, bringing on former Apple designer Tony Fadell, who was instrumental in designing the legendary iPod — an influence that is clearly reflected in the Ledger Stax’s design. However, in our testing, we found the Ledger Flex to be visually more appealing. Despite its attractive curved E-Ink display and casing, the Ledger Stax feels somewhat slippery in the hand and less solid than the Flex. Technically, the Ledger Stax surpasses or matches the Flex in many areas. For budget-conscious users, however, it’s not an option: priced at nearly 400 USD, Ledger positions the Stax as a premium product, much like Apple has done with its iPhones for years. Ultimately, whether the high price is justified for a pure hardware wallet is a personal decision.

Overall, the experiences are predominantly positive, indicating general user satisfaction with Zengo.

Ledger Stax
The Ledger Stax combines sleek design with innovative features and high security standards. The e-ink touchscreen display is perceived as a game-changer and significantly enhances usability. However, the 1 MB storage limit remains a key drawback, making it difficult for heavy users to manage multiple assets. The high price (around $399) is seen as justified for those prioritizing design and security. Overall, the Ledger Stax is a solid choice for users who place particular value on aesthetics, user-friendliness, and security.
