Bhutan will deploy a Sei Network validator in Q1 through a partnership between the Sei Development Foundation and Druk Holding and Investments (DHI), the country's sovereign wealth fund. Sei blockchain is partnering with Xiaomi to preinstall a crypto wallet on smartphones sold outside the U.S. and mainland China. The wallet app, designed for stablecoin payments, will initially roll out in regions including Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Stablecoin payment functionality for Xiaomi products is planned for Hong Kong and the EU by Q2 2026. While Sei calls the partnership unprecedented, other smartphone makers like Samsung, HTC, and Solana have previously integrated blockchain features into devices.

Xiaomi will pre-install a Sei wallet and Web3 app on new smartphones sold outside China and the US starting in 2026, giving millions of users direct crypto access. Canary Capital's Staked SEI ETF has been listed on the DTCC platform as an active and pre-launch product, pending SEC approval. The listing is a procedural step that does not equate to SEC endorsement, but is seen as a positive operational milestone. The ETF cannot yet be traded or redeemed. The SEC's stance on staking in ETFs may be shifting following the US Treasury's Revenue Procedure 2025-31, which provides a tax safe harbor for staking crypto ETFs. The firm has issued over $200 million in assets, including tokenized versions of funds from Brevan Howard, Hamilton Lane, Laser Digital, and BlackRock, available to institutional and accredited investors. The Sei Network, built for high-speed financial transactions, will provide the underlying infrastructure. Layer-1 blockchain Sei is focusing on compliance and institutional partnerships to expand in Asia, according to APAC growth director Lee Zhu.
