Tradeweb has executed a real-time onchain transaction involving tokenized US Treasuries on the Canton Network. Franklin Templeton transferred a tokenized Treasury security to Virtu Financial in exchange for tokenized cash, with Tradeweb providing execution and price discovery. The trade settled in real time, marking the first such transaction settled against USDCx stablecoin. The transaction precedes the DTCC's planned launch of Tokenization Services later this year. Franklin Templeton continues expanding into tokenized assets, having recently partnered with Binance and Ondo Finance. Governments are also advancing tokenized bonds, with Hong Kong issuing its third digital bond and the UK launching a pilot with HSBC Orion. Tokenized US Treasury products have grown into a $14.6 billion market.

Digital Asset, the creator of the Canton Network, raised $355 million in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz's a16z crypto. The round included the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Citadel Securities, CME Ventures, S&P Global, and other global financial firms. Canton is a permissioned blockchain designed for financial institutions, enabling on-chain transactions for real-world assets like bonds and equities. The firm said it has over 700 ecosystem participants and will use the capital to support network growth and developer engagement.

Canton Network captured 42% of blockchain fees in Q1 2026, totaling $193 million, topping Messari's rankings as institutional activity surged. The Layer-1 network, built for regulated institutions and launched by Digital Asset with partners like Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, benefited from growth in tokenized real-world assets and repo markets. While aggregate fees rose 2% quarter-over-quarter, gains were concentrated in a few chains; Canton's CC token traded at $0.15, down 3% in 24 hours, despite the network's fee dominance.

Visa and Brale have launched a proof-of-concept to test stablecoin-based settlement using Brale's SBC token on the Canton Network, according to a Thursday release. The initiative aims to evaluate privacy-enabled blockchain infrastructure for institutional payments, offering faster and programmable settlement while allowing financial institutions to control visibility of sensitive transaction data. Visa's Head of Crypto, Cuy Sheffield, stated the collaboration assesses how SBC on Canton can support institutional use cases requiring programmability and privacy controls. Visa began stablecoin settlement in 2021, and its pilot reached a $7 billion annualized run rate as of April, spanning nine blockchains. The total supply of dollar-pegged stablecoins is approaching $300 billion, with USDT and USDC leading, per The Block's data.

Bitwise launched the Bitwise Canton ETP (BWCC) on Deutsche Börse Xetra, tracking the Canton Network’s native token CC. The product has a 0.85% expense ratio and is fully backed by CC tokens in cold storage. The Canton Network is a privacy-enabled permissioned blockchain developed with participation from Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Börse, and others. The ETP can be traded via traditional brokerage accounts without a crypto wallet. The launch follows the debut of the 21Shares Canton Network ETF on Nasdaq earlier this month. CC token was trading at $0.16, down 1.4%, with a market cap of $6.3 billion.

Canton (CC) rallied nearly 8% on Thursday after Societe Generale joined the Canton Network as an Ecosystem Super Validator. The bank's SG-FORGE unit plans to deploy euro and dollar stablecoins for institutional settlement on the network. The token broke above its $0.15 accumulation zone and snapped a descending trendline from its February all-time high. The next target is the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement near $0.17. Technical indicators support the bullish move, with the daily RSI breaking its own descending trendline and volatility readings signaling expanded movement potential. A clean close above $0.17 could open the path to the $0.194 record, while a drop below $0.155 would invalidate the breakout.

Societe Generale's digital assets subsidiary, SG-FORGE, will deploy its EUR and USD CoinVertible stablecoins on the Canton Network to support tokenized collateral and repo financing activity. The stablecoins will be used for settlement, financing, and cash management in permitted jurisdictions, and are restricted to non-US participants. The Paris-based bank will also participate as a strategic partner and validator on the network. This move follows its previous issuance of a tokenized green bond on Canton in November 2025. SG-FORGE launched its euro stablecoin EURCV in 2023 and the dollar-denominated USDCV in 2025, with market caps of about $97 million and $20 million respectively. The announcement comes as financial institutions expand blockchain-based collateral management and stablecoin settlement. JPMorgan recently filed to launch a tokenized money market fund on Ethereum, DTCC will integrate Chainlink infrastructure for tokenized collateral, and Broadridge expanded its tokenized asset support.

Three institution-focused blockchains — Arc, Canton, and Tempo — have collectively raised over $1 billion at valuations exceeding $10 billion, signaling growing institutional demand for privacy-focused crypto infrastructure, according to Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan. In a blog post, Hougan attributed the fundraising wave to clearer U.S. regulation following the Genius Act, rising demand for private blockchain transactions, and competition from corporate-backed networks. He argued that privacy could become crypto's next 'killer app' as businesses and individuals seek to avoid the transparency of public blockchains like Ethereum.
