Our opinion

IOTA Logo
IOTA
 (IOTA)
IOTA underwent one of the most dramatic transformations in crypto: After years developing its own Tangle technology, the project made a radical pivot to the Move Virtual Machine in 2024. While the original vision of a fee-free machine economy was innovative, the DAG-based approach failed due to practical issues like the never-removed Coordinator and performance weaknesses. The move to Move represents both capitulation and fresh start: IOTA now uses proven blockchain technology instead of experimental approaches. The project maintains its IoT focus but must regain trust from a divided community and compete against established Move chains like Sui and Aptos. IOTA's industry partnerships and domain expertise remain valuable, yet the entire ecosystem must be rebuilt from scratch. For investors, IOTA is now a completely different project than before – less visionary but potentially more realistic. We follow the development with interest but currently don't recommend investment due to high uncertainties and strong competition. IOTA's story shows: Even innovative ideas can fail, but the courage for radical realignment deserves respect.

Compound shares many similarities with the Aave protocol and is one of the most exciting and popular applications in the world of decentralized finance. Although Compound’s liquidity pools are somewhat smaller than Aave’s, it still manages assets worth tens of billions. Additionally, Compound is favored by external platforms that integrate the protocol, such as Coinbase, Crypto.com, and OKX—some of the world’s largest crypto exchanges. We are big fans of DeFi protocols and currently see Compound alongside Aave as a leader in this segment, although Aave holds a slight edge in terms of total value locked in the ecosystem. Nevertheless, we remain bullish on Compound and its cryptocurrency, especially due to its extensive integrations with external applications: network effects play a crucial role in the success of decentralized protocols and apps.
