Sonic, formerly known as Fantom (FTM), is a new Layer-1 blockchain designed with a strong focus on developer needs. With speeds of up to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) and sub-second finality, applications can run quickly and securely. A native bridge to Ethereum and a monetization model called “Fee Monetization” allow developers to earn up to 90% of the transaction fees generated by their applications.

 (KAS)

Kaspa is a cryptocurrency that uses the GhostDAG protocol instead of a traditional linear blockchain. Unlike classic blockchains, Kaspa does not discard concurrently mined blocks but processes them simultaneously in a BlockDAG network. This enables extremely fast transactions with minimal confirmation times, without compromising security or decentralization.

Our opinion

Sonic (Fantom) Logo
Sonic (Fantom)
 (S)
Sonic (formerly Fantom) builds on the Fantom ecosystem and introduces new strengths with sub-second transaction finality, up to 10,000 TPS, and a strong developer focus. Its fee monetization model, which allocates up to 90% of collected fees to developers, could foster a vibrant app ecosystem rapidly. The 1:1 swap from FTM to S-Tokens facilitates migration for the existing community but also brings potential uncertainties and some fragmentation during this phase. The extensive airdrop program with 190.5 million S-Tokens aims to accelerate user acquisition but may cause short-term volatility and speculative trading. The Sonic Gateway, a native bridge to Ethereum, promises greater security and speed than typical cross-chain solutions but still needs to prove itself in real-world usage. While Fantom has demonstrated strong performance and high total value locked, it remains uncertain if Sonic can sustain the same reliability and security that established networks have shown over years. Overall, Sonic shows significant potential to continue and expand Fantom’s success story. Whether its mix of advanced technology, innovative incentives, and seamless migration will hold up long-term is yet to be determined in practice.
Sonic (Fantom) overview
Kaspa Logo
Kaspa
 (KAS)
Kaspa addresses one of the biggest challenges of traditional blockchains: scalability without compromising security or decentralization. Using the GhostDAG/PHANTOM protocol, all generated blocks are integrated—a key advantage over classic blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum, which discard many blocks. Extremely short block times and fast confirmations make Kaspa one of the most performant Proof-of-Work cryptocurrencies. Another benefit is the kHeavyHash algorithm, which makes mining more efficient and resource-friendly compared to classic PoW algorithms like SHA-256. However, PoW remains energy-intensive, potentially leading to regulatory challenges in the long term. Kaspa also faces challenges: it must compete with established networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum, which have strong network effects and developer communities. Additionally, Kaspa is still in an early ecosystem development stage—especially regarding smart contracts, DeFi, and real-world applications crucial for long-term adoption.
