Bitcoin is a digital peer-to-peer currency based on blockchain technology. Instead of being controlled by a central authority like a government or central bank, Bitcoin is maintained by a constantly growing network of participants, making it highly decentralized and resistant to censorship or control.

 (XMR)

Monero is a decentralized cryptocurrency designed for private and difficult-to-trace payments. Unlike most public blockchains, the sender, recipient and amount of every transaction are concealed by default. This protects users’ financial privacy and prevents individual XMR from being treated differently based on their transaction history.

Our opinion

Bitcoin Logo
Bitcoin
 (BTC)
Bitcoin was not only the first major use case for blockchain technology but is increasingly valued by individuals, businesses, institutions, and even countries as a neutral protocol for transactions and a store of value (e.g., protection against high inflation). Thanks to its design, Bitcoin is often called the safest network in the world, a “Trust Machine". The fact that its founder, under the pseudonym “Satoshi Nakamoto,” disappeared completely after Bitcoin’s launch is also significant. This eliminated any central point of contact and potential attack vector. Both the rapidly growing network effect and the high decentralization of the network leave us with little doubt that Bitcoin will continue to remain the undisputed leader in the crypto space as a payment method and store of value. For these and many other reasons, Bitcoin holds the largest weighting in our portfolio.

Monero Logo
Monero
 (XMR)
Monero is the most uncompromising major crypto project focused on private payments. Unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, it conceals the sender, recipient and amount by default, strengthening fungibility and censorship resistance. Its real-world use for legitimate private payments and on darknet marketplaces demonstrates genuine demand, while also explaining the intense regulatory pressure. Monero also benefits from its long track record, fair launch without an ICO or pre-mine, and independent open-source development. At the same time, exchange delistings restrict access, liquidity and institutional adoption. Monero does not guarantee complete anonymity either, as exchange data, IP addresses or compromised devices may still reveal information about users. Overall, we view Monero as the strongest project for private digital money, although regulatory risks are likely to limit its long-term growth.
